Avery, Clark Moulton

Clark Moulton Avery (1819-1864) of Burke County, NC, was William Waightstill Avery's younger brother and the son of Harriet Erwin and Isaac Thomas Avery (1785-1864). Moulton, as he was known to students, entered the University in 1835, became a member of the Dialectic Society, and received his degree in 1839. A colonel in the Confederate army, he died of wounds received in the Battle of the Wilderness (Dictionary of North Carolina Biography 1:67-68).
